JERUSALEM, June 21, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli police detained on Thursday analyst and political commentator Rasem Obeidat, 60, following a raid at his home in Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, according to his son, Malik.
He said the Israeli security service arrested his father during raid at his home and later called him to inform him that his father was has been detained until he appears before the Magistrate Court in Jerusalem later in the day.
Obeidat, who often speaks on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at local and international forums and appears on TV, was detained on Monday following his participation in a reception marking Russia Day held at the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem and released hours later.
Meanwhile, the security services also detained early Thursday Abdullah Kiswani, head of Mount of Olives Club and former member of the Palestinian Football Association, after raiding his home on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem.
No reason was given for the detention of both Jerusalem residents.
