JENIN, June 21, 2018 (WAFA) – A large Israeli army unit raided the northern West Bank town of Barta’a early Thursday and demolished the family residence of Ala’a Qabaha, 26, accused to ramming his car into soldiers near Jenin on March 16 killing two soldiers.
Qabaha has denied at the time of the incident that it was intentional and stressed that it was a purely road accident. He was lightly injured in the accident and arrested. He also told his lawyer that he was tortured to force a confession from him.
According to WAFA correspondent in Jenin, around 20 Israeli army vehicles raided Barta’a after midnight and the Qabaha home two weeks after the family was informed by the army that its home will be demolished.
The army knocked down the inside walls of the 150-square meter home, located on the third floor of an apartment building owned by his father, Rateb Qabaha, making the home uninhabitable and causing damage to the other apartments in the buildingÒ
In clashes that broke out in the town between young Palestinians and the Israeli forces during the raid and demolition of the Qabaha home, one Palestinian was wounded from rubber-coated metal bullet and others from inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli soldiers.
