NABLUS, April 14, 2018 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah Saturday held the Israeli government responsible for the action of Jewish settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories, the latest of which was the attempt to set on fire a mosque in the northern West Bank village of Aqraba.

Hamdallah’s statement came following a visit to the mosque to inspect the damage caused to it.

Settlers had raided early Friday the village located west of Nablus, set the mosque on fire in a clear hate crime and spray painted racist and anti-Palestinian graffiti on its wall.

“The Government of Israel is fully responsible for the continued violations of the Israeli settlers because it does not persecute the perpetrators of these acts,” he said, warning that such actions against a Muslim holy place could trigger religious conflict whose consequences could be devastating.

He said that the mosque will be immediately restored to preserve it as a worship place.

The prime minister demanded from the world “to curb the Israeli violations and stop the Israeli aggression against our defenseless civilian people in Gaza.”
