RAMALLAH, April 9, 2018 (WAFA) – A video of the interrogation of Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian teenager who was arrested on December 19 for slapping an armed Israeli soldier who invaded her family home, and which  was released on Monday by her family shows the 17-year-old Palestinian girl undergoing cruel and abusive interrogation at an Israeli army detention center following her arrest.

Tamimi was still 16 years of age when a large number of soldiers raided after midnight her family home in Nabi Saleh, a village northwest of Ramallah, and took her away. Her mother, Nariman, 42, was also arrested on the same day after she went to the police station to check on her daughter. The mother was charged with incitement for posting a video showing her daughter slapping the soldier, which was the ground for arresting Ahed.

The two were sentenced in March to eight months in prison and a fine.

The video shows excerpts from a two-hour interrogation session during which two Israeli interrogators used abusive and threatening language to get Tamimi to admit to whatever she was charged with.

However, Tamimi remained silent throughout the interrogation, as shown by the video.

Ahed’s father, Bassem, said at a press conference in Ramallah during which the video was released that his daughter remained defiant and was not shaken by her interrogators, but instead chose to remain silent.
