RAMALLAH, Tuesday, July 16, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are in a state or outrage and prepared for any confrontation with the Israel Prison Service (IPS) after the announcement of the death of fellow detainee Nassar Taqatqa, 31, while in solitary confinement at Nitzan (Ramla) prison in central Israel, the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said today.
It said the prisoners called out God’s name and banged on doors from the moment they heard the news of Taqatqa’s death. They also closed all the sections and informed the prison administration that they would not receive the meals.
The prisoners held the IPS responsible for any repercussions that may occur as a result of the death of Taqatqa.
Taqatqa is from the town of Beit Fajjar in the Bethlehem district. He was detained on 19 June and was still undergoing interrogation when he was found dead in his cell this morning.
