JENIN, Monday, February 25, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces overnight Monday detained at least seven Palestinians in multiple raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) in a press release.
Israeli military vehicles raided Arraba town, southwest of Jenin, where soldiers detained two former prisoners identified as Khader Adnan and Tareq Qa‘dan.
Soldiers also conducted a raid into the neighboring village of Kafr Ra‘i, detaining a Palestinian.
Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers detained a Palestinian after storming and ransacking his family’s house in the southern West Bank town of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem.
Elsewhere in the southern West Bank, soldiers detained a Palestinian after ransacking his family’s house in Hebron city.
The detainee was identified as Raed Abdul-Fattah al-Ja‘bari, 41, whose brother, Wael, was shot dead by Israeli forces purportedly for an alleged stabbing attempt near Kiryat Arba in September 2018, and whose body is still withheld by Israel.
Security sources confirmed two other raids in Yatta and Sair towns, south and northeast of Hebron, where soldiers ransacked several houses and a parking lot before seizing surveillance camera recordings and destroying solar panels.
PPS confirmed another predawn raid in Salfit district, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.
In Jerusalem district, Israeli troops raided al-Ram town, northeast of Jerusalem, detaining a Palestinian.
This came a day after Israeli military police rounded up a Palestinian who spent 17 years behind bars shortly after his scheduled release.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
