HEBRON, March 9, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces arrested early Thursday Palestinian lawmaker Samira Halaykeh, 53, after raiding her home in the town of Shiyoukh, east of Hebron in the south of the West Bank, Palestinian security forces told WAFA.
They said an army force raided Shiyoukh, arrested Halaykeh and seized her personal computer.
Halaykeh’s arrest came as the world was marking International Women’s Day.
Israel had recently arrested two other lawmakers from the Hebron area.
The new arrest brings the total number of Palestinian lawmakers incarcerated in Israel to nine.
Furthermore, Israeli forces raided other areas in the Hebron district and arrested two brothers, 16 and 17 years old, from the town of Beit Awwa, southwest of Hebron, as well as three other Palestinians from the city of Hebron after raiding their homes.
