Child critically injured by soldiers remains in a coma, says group

RAMALLAH, December 13, 2017 (WAFA) – Hamid Masri, 14, who was shot and critically injured by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday after they suspected him of trying to attack them is in a coma at an Israeli hospital, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said on Wednesday.

Soldiers opened fire at Masri near the West Bank city of Salfit and seriously wounded him.

The army initially said that Masri attempted to stab soldiers, prompting them to shoot him.

However, the army later changed its version and said that Masri was not in a possession of a knife as first claimed and that the soldiers suspected that he was going to attack them and therefore shot him.

Masri was taken to an Israeli hospital, where he underwent surgery but remains in critical condition, said the Prisoner’s Society.
