HEBRON, June 20, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces Monday detained 16 Palestinians from across the West Bank district, as well as shot and injured two brothers, according to local and security sources.
In Hebron, forces detained seven Palestinians, including two journalists, during a military raid into Hebron city.
Forces reportedly stormed several neighbourhoods in the city before detaining Hamza al-Jamal, Hazem Neurokh, Suhaib Abu Nejmeh, Mohammed Taha, and Firas Abu Snaineh, in addition to two journalists who were identified as Adeeb al-Atrash and Rani al-Haymoni. Al-Haymoni’s two brothers were shot and injured with rubber-coated steel bullets during his arrest. They were both transferred to hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, forces raided and searched a number of Palestinian homes, in addition to cattle farm in Yatta area to the south of Hebron. However, no arrests were made.
In Bethlehem, forces detained two Palestinians, including a minor from the town of Beit Fajjar. Local Rebhi Taqtqa, 17, was detained during a military raid into his family’s home, whereas Mahmoud Thawabteh, 18, was detained during clashes that erupted in the town centre.
Forces reportedly used tear gas canisters and stun grenades against locals, however no injuries were reported.
In Ramallah, Israeli soldiers detained a university lecturer from the village of ‘Arora, after raiding and searching his home. The lecturer, who works at Birzeit university, was identified as Naser Khaseeb, 26.
In Nablus, forces detained a mother and her daughter from the village of Qasra to the south. They were identified as Khawla Badawi, and her daughter Muna, 19. To be noted, Khawal’s husband, Khalil, 57, and her son, Mohammed, were detained last Thursday after appearing before the Israeli intelligence for interrogation.
Forces further blocked the main entrance of Nablus’ town of Bita with cement blocks and prevented Palestinians from crossing through.
in Qalqilia, forces detained a local who was identified as Mohammed Hasan.
In central Jerusalem, Israeli special units detained a youth after raiding and searching his family’s home in Ras Khamis neighbourhood, located adjacent to Shufaat Refugee Camp. He was identified as Mousa al-Reshq, 23.
The units further raided and searched a home belonging to the family of Sharha in the said camp, where they seized a number of electronic appliances.
Forces reportedly fired heavy tear gas canisters toward the camp’s homes before withdrawing its troops.
in the meantime, six Palestinians suffered from suffocation after inhaling tear gas fired heavily at them by Israeli forces during clashes that broke out in the village al-Sheikh Sa’ad, near Jabal al-Mukaber neighbourhood to the south-east of Jerusalem.
