Israel forces close entrance to Qalqiliya-district town for 15 consecutive day

QALQILIYA, Thursday, April 11, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday closed the entrance to Azzun town, east of the northern West Bank city of Qaqiliya, for the fifteenth consecutive day.

Israeli forces has used large cement blocks to completely block off the town entrance since March 28, 2019, forcing residents to use substitute roads to reach their destinations.

Azzun mayor Riyad Hannun slammed the 15-day closure and daily military raids into the town as part of a wider systematic Israeli plan designed to facilitate new settlement construction plans in the area.

He called on international human rights organizations to immediately intervene to halt Israeli oppressive practices against the residents.

Closures besides to other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 51-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
