Israeli forces demolish primary school south Hebron

HEBRON, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday demolished a  primary school in Simia area, north of the southern West Bank town of al-Sumo’, south of Hebron, said a local activist.

Mohannad al-Masalma, PR coordinator in the south of Hebron, said that an Israeli bulldozer demolished “al-Tahadi 13” (Challenge 13 School) without any prior notice and declared it as a closed military area.

Soldiers reportedly dismantled the walls of the mobile classrooms and confiscated an electric generator, a water tank besides to other equipment used by the construction contractor.

Al-Maslma noted that the school, made of seven mobile classrooms and which accommodates about 50 students, was built by the Ministry of Education with a cost of €40,000 and was supposed to be opened in two days.

The Education Ministry has embarked on the construction of mobile classrooms, dubbed al-Tahadi Schools, to provide education for children in vulnerable communities across the West Bank Area C.

Area C, which accounts for 60 percent of the West Bank, along with East Jerusalem have been the scene of settlement construction in violation of international law while Israel’s apartheid wall has further fragmented Palestinian communities and restricted Palestinian movement.
