RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 04, 2019 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said that since Israel no longer respects any of the signed agreements and is dealing with all areas and classifications as area "C", then we will treat all areas as "A".
Shtayyeh said during a meeting with the committee for the defense of Wadi Hummus and with the affected families whose homes have been demolished and are threatened with demolition that what happened in Wad al-Hummus area is ‘a heinous crime that we will not accept’.
"The occupation aims at emptying the city of Jerusalem from its population within the framework of the Israeli Plan 2020 for Jerusalem.”
The meeting was attended by Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Fadi Hidmi and Minister of Local Government Magdi al-Saleh.
On July 22, Israel demolished 10 Palestinian-owned buildings in Sur Baher’s Wadi al-Hummus area, citing its close proximity to the security barrier.
As per the Oslo Accord, Area A includes the main Palestinian population centers under the PA’s administrative and security control and makes up 18% of the West Bank. Area B is under the PA’s administrative control and Israel’s security control and makes up 21% of the West Bank. Area C, which makes up 61% of the West Bank, is under Israeli administrative and security control.
