Abbas meets Dutch foreign minister in Ramallah

 

RAMALLAH, January 11, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Thursday afternoon met with the Dutch Foreign Minister Halbe Zijlstra at the presidential headquarter in Ramallah.

Abbas briefed Zijlstra on the latest political developments in the Palestinian arena and the leadership’s steps to end the Israeli occupation and establish the independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital based on 1967 borders.

He underscored the implications of the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocation of the US embassy to Israeli from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and emphasized the need to set up an international mechanism led by the United Nations to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

He commended Netherlands for its support for Palestinian institution building, economy and the Two-State solution in line with the European Union’s position and efforts to grow bilateral relations in the interest of both countries.
