DUBLIN, Sunday, February 23, 2020 (WAFA) – Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney condemned the latest Israeli announcement on further settlement construction and expansion in parts of occupied East Jerusalem.

“All settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory are clearly illegal under international law,” said the minister in a press statement.

He stressed that the construction of settlements in the illegal settlements of Har Homa and Givat Hamatos in occupied East Jerusalem would undermine the viability and territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian State, he said.

“I urge the Israeli government to desist from any further steps in relation to these specific settlement plans, and to halt all settlement construction,” he concluded.
