BRUSSELS, January 22, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Monday held several meetings with European officials on the sideline of his official visit to Brussels, the base of the European Union, to discuss the latest developments in Palestine, particularly regarding Jerusalem.

Abbas met with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development Cooperation Alexander De Croo as well as with Slovenia’s Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec.

Abbas briefed both officials in separate meetings on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly regarding Jerusalem and the latest US declaration of the city as capital of Israel.

They further discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them in all fields.

On the possible recognition of the State of Palestine by a number of European countries, the Slovenian government has submitted a draft resolution to its parliament to recognize Palestine. Abbas has also called on the Belgian official to recognize the state of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas arrived in Brussels on Sunday for a two-day official visit and meeting with top EU officials and foreign ministers from its 28 states.
