After holding it for over a year, Israel turns over corpse of a Palestinian to his family

GAZA, Wednesday, October 23, 2019 (WAFA) – Israel turned over today the corpse of a Palestinian its forces have killed and held since over a year ago after crossing the Gaza border into Israel, according to official sources.

The Civil Affairs Authority said in a statement that Israel turned over the corpse of Imad Khalil Shaheen, 17, to his family through Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing in the north of the Gaza Strip.

Shaheen was shot dead on November 3, 2018 after infiltrating the border with Israel in the central Gaza Strip. The Israeli soldiers took him away and later declared that he was dead.

The family said it will make proper funeral arrangements for its son soon.

Israel holds in special army morgues dozens of corpses of Palestinians its forces have shot dead in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since October 2015 and refuses to turn them over to their families for burial.

The Israeli High Court recently gave the army the right to keep the corpses and use them as a bargaining chip with the Palestinians.
