RAMALLAH, Sunday, March 31, 2019 (WAFA) - President of Tunisia, Beji Caid Essebsi, stressed in his opening speech at the 30th Arab Summit held in the Tunisian capital of Tunis on Sunday that a just settlement can only be achieved through the two-state solution and with Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine.
He called to intensify efforts and Arab coordination in order to put an end to all decisions and measures aimed at harming the Palestinian cause, in addition to addressing all that would prejudice the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
He further reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the joint Arab work and putting it back in the spotlight on the international arena. He stressed that regional and international stability will only be achieved through a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian cause.
Meanwhile, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who presided over the last summit and is leading the Saudi delegation to Tunis, affirmed that the Palestinian cause will remain a top concern for the Saudi kingdom.
He said that the Palestinian cause will remain a top concern for the Saudi kingdom so that the Palestinian people gain all their legitimate rights, first and foremost the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab-peace initiative.
