RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 01, 2020 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health said tonight that 50 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the West Bank, bringing the total today to 330 and the overall total in Palestine to 3095.
It said in a statement that among the 50 new cases, 49 were in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, the epicenter of the disease, and one in the village of Jifna, near Ramallah.
The Ministry said 11 patients remain in intensive care; three of them are on respirators and in critical condition.
Of the total cases, 2686 are in the West Bank, 72 in Gaza and 337 in East Jerusalem.
A total of 2450 cases are still active, and 634 patients have recovered including 460 in the West Bank and Gaza, 174 in Jerusalem.
Eleven people have died, including seven in the West Bank, three in East Jerusalem and one in the Gaza Strip.
As a result of the recent sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Palestine, which reached hundreds in the last few days, as well as the number of corona-related deaths, and in an effort to contain the spread of the disease, the Palestinian government announced today return to total lockdown throughout the occupied West Bank where movement of people will be curtailed for five days, starting Friday.
