RAMALLAH, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestinian journalists protested outside the office of the Palestinian news agency WAFA on Tuesday against Israeli army raid of the agency’s premises the night before.

Dozens of journalists and officials gathered outside WAFA building in Ramallah holding posters denouncing the army attack against WAFA, the official news agency, that included throwing teargas and stun grenades in the newsroom and stairway causing suffocation cases.

Officials speaking at the event, including Fatah deputy chairman Mahmoud Aloul, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Nasser Abu Bakr, head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, condemned the army raid and the mistreatment of the journalists.

They called for holding Israel accountable for its act and for providing protection to Palestinian journalists, who are being regularly targeted by the Israeli army.

Delegations continued to arrive on Tuesday at WAFA offices to express solidarity with the news agency and its staff, while others published letters of condemnation.
