Israeli settlers vandalize vehicles south of Nablus

NABLUS, Friday, November 23, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli Jewish settlers predawn Friday vandalized dozens of Palestinian vehicles in Huwwara, south of Nablus, said a local anti-settlement activist.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, said that dozens of settlers broke into Huwwara, where they punctured the tires of 15 vehicles and spray-painted racist, anti-Palestinian slogans on the walls of a local girls school.

This came after settlers overnight attacked the eastern part of the neighboring town of Asira al-Qibliya, puncturing the tires of 20 vehicles and spray-painting racist graffiti on the walls of the home of Hassan Asayra in addition to a number of vehicles in the village.

The settlers reportedly came from Yitzhar, an illegal settlement inhabited by hardcore fanatic Jews.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Settlers‘ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.

All settlements across the West Bank are illegal under international law, particularly article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which establishes that the occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.
