RAMALLAH, Friday, February 22, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday afternoon quelled a Palestinian anti-settlement rally in al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah, injuring three Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets.
Local sources told WAFA that hundreds of Palestinians performed Friday prayers in an open field near the village before partaking in a rally against land confiscations.
Heavily-armed Israeli troops deploying around the village opened fire towards protesters, injuring three protesters with Toto live rounds; one hit in the chest and the two others in the leg.
The casualties were rushed for a Ramallah-based hospital for treatment.
Soldiers also showered protesters with stun and tear gas canisters, causing dozens to suffocate. The suffocation cases received treatment at the scene.
Villagers of al-Mughayyir organize weekly protests in rejection of Israel’s seizure of their lands and against continuous raids by settlers against the village.
Such settlers raids resulted in the killing of villagers, such as the killing of Hamdi Taleb Nasan, 38, a father of four children, on January 26, 2019.
