Thousands attend funeral of slain teen in Nablus village

NABLUS, January 12, 2018 (WAFA) – Thousands of Palestinians Friday afternoon attended the funeral procession of a slain Palestinian teen in Iraq Burin village, south of Nablus.

Thousands of mourners attended the funeral procession of Ali Qadous, 16, who was killed by Israeli forces near a makeshift checkpoint at the entrance of the neighboring village, which had been sealed off by Israeli troops with cement blocks.

Mourners raised Palestine flag and flags of different Palestinian factions and shouted slogans condemning the Israeli occupation and threatening to avenge the killing. Among the mourners was Nablus governor Akram al-Rajoub.

This came as Israeli forces violently suppressed Palestinian rallies that continued to rock the occupied territories for the sixth consecutive Friday in protest of the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Israeli forces cracked down on several rallies in Nablus, causing suffocation cases, while Israeli Jewish settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Luban Ash-Sharqiya village, south of Nablus, but were fended off by local families.

Similar rallies were reported at the entrances to al-Bireh city and Budrus village, west of Ramallah, where Israeli troops opened fire towards protestors, causing scores of suffocation cases and injuring a protestor with a Toto bullet in his leg.

WAFA correspondent said that Israeli troops targeted Palestinian reporters, firing tear gas canisters and stun grenades towards them.

A similar anti-Trump rally was also reported in the Hebron neighborhood of al-Zawiya.
