JERUSALEM, Sunday, July 07, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of Jerusalem summoned today for questioning five Palestinians from Wadi Yasul quarter in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, under the pretext of building without construction.
Khaled Shewiki, a local rights activist, told WAFA that staff from the Israeli municipality accompanied by police officers stormed five homes in Wadi Yasul area and handed their owners summons to appear for questioning.
The Israeli municipality recently ordered the demolition of about 80 Palestinian-owned homes in the area under the same pretext of construction without a permit.
Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem and in parts of the West Bank say it is nearly impossible for them to obtain the required building permits from Israeli authorities.
Israel has been blamed at times for using the pretext of building without a permit to carry out demolitions of Palestinian-owned homes on a regular basis.
