RAMALLAH, May 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Thousands of Palestinians gathered in Ramallah city center on Monday to commemorate the 69th anniversary of the Nakba.
Palestinians first gathered at the Arafat Memorial before marching toward the city center led by the military marching band and the scouts hoisting Palestinian and black flags.
Many wore black T-shirts with the number 1948 written on the back marking the year of the Nakba when Israel was created in Palestine at the expense of its Palestinian Arab population.
Marchers also carried a large Palestinian flag and a black flag with the words “we shall return” written on it in Arabic.
At the city center, Palestinians stood for 69 seconds when sirens were sounded at noon before speakers narrated the history of the Nakba and its political implications at the gathering, promising that the right of return for the refugees will never be compromised in any political solution.
The gathering ended shortly after the speeches were concluded.
