Israeli police detain Palestinian security official, others at Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, Monday, October 14, 2019 (WAFA) – Hours after detaining the Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem governor Adnan Ghaith and another Fatah member, Israeli police detained this morning the director of the Palestinian Preventive Security in Jerusalem, Said Atari, and five others while they were at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, according to witnesses.

They said Israeli police took the six to a nearby police station for questioning.

Police had earlier detained Ghaith and the deputy secretary of Fatah movement in Jerusalem Shadi Mtuwr and decided to keep them in detention until eight in the evening to bring them before a court, said Muhammad Mahmoud, an attorney with the Prisoners Affairs Commission.

He said police accuse the two of carrying out official Palestinian activity in Jerusalem.
