RAMALLAH, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas’ remarks on the US Mideast plan, dubbed deal of the century, dominated the front page headlines in Tuesday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Abbas was reported in the three dailies stating that whoever wants to find a solution to the Palestinian question must begin with solving the political aspect of it.
He was also reported stating that the US President Donald Trump’s Mideast plan, which is designed to force Palestinians into submission to perpetual Israeli dominance, “will go to hell” as will the US-brokered ‘Peace to Prosperity’ economic workshop in Manama.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported presidential adviser for diplomatic affairs Majdi Khaldi announcing that Abbas will attend the upcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israeli settlers razed Palestinian land in Asira al-Qibliya town, southwest of Nablus.
They added that Israeli occupation authorities demolished an agricultural structure in al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem.
Al-Quds said that the so-called ‘Temple Mount’ groups have officially declared their intention to storm the mosque compound on Ramadan 28th, which corresponds to June 2nd.
It also reported Palestinian sources saying that Israel continues to procrastinate on the implementation of the recent understandings to consolidate clam in Gaza and has not allowed any new materials into the besieged coastal enclave.
It highlighted Israeli human rights group B‘Tselem‘s report proving that one of the two Israeli settlers recently caught on video starting a fire in the West Bank is an Israeli soldier.
Moreover, the dailies reported that the Palestinian cabinet reiterated the Palestinian leadership’s position refusing to receive the tax revenues from Israel if incomplete.
Al-Quds spotlighted a new report issued by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor documenting 130 Israeli violations against Palestinians in Jerusalem in last April.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported the Chinese Ambassador to Palestine Guo Wei announcing that his country, along with Russia, would not participate in the US-sponsored economic workshop in Manama, scheduled on June 25 and 26.
Highlighting an Israel Hayom’s report, al-Ayyam said that US officials will recommend to the economic workshop in Manama ending the activities of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) and converting the refugee camps in the West Bank into permanent Palestinian towns and cities.
It said that an Israeli court has sentenced two Palestinians from Gaza to imprisonment for participating in the Great March of Return protests.
Presidential advisor for external affairs and international relations Nabil Shaath was reported in al-Ayyam saying that a meeting for the Socialist International would be convened in Ramallah to discuss Trump’s Mideast plan, dubbed deal of the century, and support the Palestinian leadership.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Hamas has banned the distribution of al-Hayat al-Jadida newspaper in the Gaza Strip.
The dailies reported that cabinet announcing a four-day holiday starting from Monday June 3 to mark the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr.
