RAMALLAH, June 28, 2018 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted in their Thursday issue the visit to Palestine of Britain’s Prince William, particularly his meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas.
The papers quoted President Abbas telling his guest that his administration is serious about reaching peace with Israel based on the June 4, 1967 borders.
They also quoted Prince William saying that he was pleased to see their both countries working together.
The papers also reported on William’s tour of Ramallah and his meetings with children and different segments of the Palestinian society.
In other news, the papers reported on the Israeli air strike in Gaza targeting a car in Nusseirat refugee camp, which al-Ayyam said belonged to one of the leaders of the resistance movement.
They also said the Israeli army opened fire at a group of Palestinians who crossed the Gaza border injuring one and arresting him while the others were able to get away. Al-Ayyam printed a picture of a soldier carrying the injured Palestinian.
Al-Quds highlighted a story on an Israeli parliamentary committee approving cutting the allowance the Palestinian Authority (PA) pays to families of prisoners and those killed by Israel from the PA’s tax and customs revenue.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the government has condemned this decision saying it was theft of Palestinian money in broad daylight.
Al-Quds also said the American administration is expected to inform the PA of its decision to suspend all financial aid.
It quoted Foreign Policy journal saying that the American so-called deal of the century US special advisor Jared Kushner is expected to present will be catastrophic.
It said King Abdullah of Jordan emphasized to the US Congress the two-state solution.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted the king saying the issue of Jerusalem should be resolved within the final status negotiations and based on the two-state solution.
Al-Quds said in another story that Italy gave the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, five million euros.
The paper also said Hamas has rejected Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s proposal on releasing the Israeli prisoners it is holding in return for having a sea route from Gaza to Cyprus.
Al-Ayyam quoted a report saying Egypt was working on an all-encompassing deal between Israel and Hamas.
It said Israel has lifted the restrictions imposed on tourists from Indonesia.
