Foreign Ministry: 500 confirmed coronavirus cases, 23 deaths in diaspora

 

RAMALLAH, Monday, April 6, 2020 (WAFA) – The Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Wednesday evening announced there were 500 confirmed coronavirus cases and 23 deaths among Palestinians in the diaspora.

The ministry said in a statement that the number of Palestinian expatriates infected with COVID-19 increased to 500, including 349 cases in the United States, and the deaths due to the virus increased to 23, including 15 deaths in the US.

The ministry saluted Palestinian doctors abroad who were participating in the efforts aimed at combating virus, and noted that around 1,000 Palestinian doctors were participating in such efforts in Europe and hundreds others in the US, Venezuela and Cuba among other states.

It reiterated that four doctors were declared dead after contracting coronavirus; one in New Jersey, two in Spain and one in Italy, while some 20 American doctors and paramedics from Palestinian origin tested positive for the virus in New Jersey.
