Settlers set up mobile home on Palestinian land north of Nablus

NABLUS, Thursday, December 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers today set up a mobile home on Palestinian land belonging to the villagers of Burqa, located to the north of Nablus city, said a local settlement watchdog.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement construction in the northern West Bank, told WAFA that a number of settlers installed a mobile home on lands belonging to Burqa villagers.

He added that settlers set tires ablaze on Jenin-Nablus Road, also known as Route 60, restricting the movement of Palestinian vehicles and causing a traffic jam.

Israeli forces, present at the scene, provided protection to the settlers.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Settlers‘ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Over 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law.
