Residents protest closure of their Jerusalem neighborhood

JERUSALEM, October 13, 2016 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya protested on Thursday against Israeli closure of their area.

The protesters, who marched towards one of the closed entrances of the neighborhood, called upon the Israeli authorities to remove the cement cubes placed to block the main roads to their neighborhoods that prevent entry and exit of vehicles from and into the area.

The protesters expressed anger over what they described as Israeli collective punishment against the entire Palestinian residents of Issawiya.

The village witnessed fierce clashes on Wednesday between Palestinian teenagers and Israeli police forces during which six Palestinians were reportedly detained by the police.
