Palestinian shot, critically injured during clashes near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Monday, September 09, 2019 (WAFA) – A Palestinian youth was shot and injured with live bullets during clashes that broke out with Israeli forces to the north of al-Bireh city in the occupied West bank, according to the ministry of health.

The ministry said in a brief statement that a Palestinian youth, whose identity was not provided, was admitted into hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. His medical condition was described as critical.

Clashes erupted earlier today as dozens of Birzeit University students and activists marched from downtown Ramallah to the northern checkpoint known as the DCO, near the northern entrance to al-Bireh city, to protest the death of cancer-stricken Palestinian prisoner Bassam Sayeh while in custody.

Palestinians charged that Sayeh, who suffered from cancer, died of medical negligence by the Israel Prisons Service.
