Palestinians clash with Israeli soldiers in Hebron area

HEBRON, Monday, June 24, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinians clashed today with Israeli soldiers in the Hebron area in the south of the West Bank, according to local witnesses.

They said dozens of young Palestinians throw rocks at the soldiers in Bab al-Zawieh area in Hebron city and in the town of Halhoul, north of Hebron.

The soldiers responded by firing tear gas and rubber bullets at the stone-throwing Palestinians causing suffocation from the gas but no serious injuries.

The clashes started after the youth approached Israeli army checkpoints in protest against the US-sponsored economic meeting in Bahrain planned to open tomorrow.

Thousands of Palestinians participated in rallies across the West Bank today to protest the Bahrain meeting, which is strongly opposed by the Palestinian leadership as intended to undermine their drive for independence and statehood.
