JORDAN VALLEY, Sunday, July 07, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities embarked on works on a settler-only road near the illegal settlement of Meskiot in the Jordan Valley region, northeast of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
Aref Daraghmeh, a local anti-settlement activist, told WAFA that Israeli bulldozers embarked on levelling a land outside the settlement to make way for the new road, which is expected to only serve Jewish settlers and not the local Palestinian population.
Israel has been planning to transform the Jordan Valley, which makes up one third of the occupied West Bank, into a completely Israeli area, aiming to prevent a territorial contiguity between a future Palestinian state and the rest of the Arab world.
