Settlers brutally assault child in Hebron Old City

HEBRON, Saturday, July 06, 2019 (WAFA) – Extremist Jewish settlers attacked today a Palestinian 10-year-old boy and injured him at the Old City of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Muntaser Abu-Rmeleh was walking through the Sahla Street in the Old City district when a group of settlers attacked him, causing him bruises and scars across his body. He was moved to hospital for medical treatment.

Muntaser’s father told WAFA that Israeli soldiers who were at the scene paid no effort to stop the attacking settlers and protect his son.

Some 800 hardcore settlers live in the Israeli-controlled section of Hebron, known as H2, among over 20,000 Palestinians.

Harassment of Palestinians in that area is a daily occurrence, particularly following the departure of the international monitoring team, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), earlier this month after Israel refused to extend the team‘s mandate.
