Palestinians clash with Israeli soldiers following raid of Bethlehem refugee camp

BETHLEHEM, September 23, 2017 (WAFA) – Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers following an army raid of Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem early Saturday, according to a Palestinian security source.

An Israeli army force raided the camp located in the northern end of the biblical city adjacent to Israeli settlement enclave known as Rachel‘s Tomb.

The force broke into several homes, apparently to detain youths involved in the clashes that occasionally take place in that area.

Residents of the camp clashed with the force, which fired rubber bullets at the Palestinians without causing any injury.

The force then left the camp and returned to Rachel’s Tomb encampment apparently without taking anyone with it.

Israel says its forces raid the camp after youths throw stones at its soldiers at Rachel’s Tomb or army vehicles in the area. Israeli forces usually take pictures of the stone-throwing Palestinian youths and then go to arrest them during the night or early morning hours.
