RAMALLAH, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian figures rallied today outside the Venezuelan representative office in Ramallah in support of Nicolas Maduro on the first year anniversary for his re-election as president of Venezuela.
Participants, who included political and religious figures, raised the Palestinian and Venezuelan flags as well as pictures of presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Maduro, while holding banners denouncing the US sanctions against Palestine and Venezuela.
Speaking at the rally, Fatah Central Committee member Jamal Muheisen said the rally was intended to send a message of solidarity with the people of Venezuela in facing the American assault against the regime and people in Venezuela.
“We are confident that support of the army and people of Venezuela of their legitimate leadership and President Nicolas Maduro will foil the American plots intended to demean the entire world,” he said.
“As we face the deal of the century, you are facing attempts by the US administration to overthrow the Venezuelan democracy,” he said addressing the Venezuelan official.
Venezuela’s representative to Palestine, Maher Taha, said “just as Venezuela stood by Palestine and its people in all international forums, the free people of Palestine today stand with it in facing the pressures and sanctions imposed by the US administration,” which he described as very harsh, just as harsh as the sanctions imposed on Palestine.
