RAMALLAH, May 1, 2017 (WAFA) – Chairman of the media committee in support of the 1,800 hunger striking Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails Abdul-Fattah Douleh said on Monday that the Israel Prison Service has failed to establish an alternative negotiation channel that excludes the strike’s leader Marwan Bargouti.
Speaking to Mawtini radio, Douleh said the occupation authorities “tried to circumvent the leadership of the strike, but they collided with the prisoners‘ consensus on commander Marwan Barghouthi as the leader of the strike.”
He added that the prisoners refused the creation of any other leadership to negotiate their demands with IPS.
Meanwhile, Douleh warned of the serious health conditions of a number of hunger striking prisoners, saying many of them have entered critical health stages.
He said there are no confirmed news about the health conditions of the prisoners on hunger strike because of Israel’s prevention of family and lawyer visits.
