A solidarity protest with former mufti of Jerusalem broken up by Israeli police

JERUSALEM, Wednesday, June 03, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli police broke up today a solidarity protest with the former mufti of Jerusalem and current head of the Higher Islamic Council, Ikrima Sabri, held at his East Jerusalem home, and detained two people, according to sources.

Dozens of protestors and Arab members in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, participated in the protest held against ongoing police harassment of Sabri, the latest of which was interrogating him for several hours and banning him from entering al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The participants were also protesting Israeli interference in freedom of worship by banning Muslims from reaching Al-Aqsa Mosque for weeks and months and arresting worshippers.
