France offers Abbas condolences over lost lives in Gaza

RAMALLAH, May 14, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Monday received a phone call from the French President Emmanuel Macron to offer his condolences on the death of 55 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Monday.

Macron reiterated his country‘s support for the Palestinian people and affirmed the need that protests remain non-violent.

Abbas said Israel must stop the escalation in violence, which has claimed the lives of 55 Palestinians so far in addition to over 2500 injuries, especially after violating the law and opening the US embassy in Jerusalem.

He affirmed that after the US recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel; the US will no longer be approved as a mediator nor allowed to offer a peace proposal.

Abbas said opening live fire at unarmed protestors in non-violent protests will led to more extremism and violence, thus the leadership’s decision to demand the Security Council to provide protection for the Palestinian people.
