With sharp rise in corona cases, Palestinian government declares 5-day total lockdown

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 01, 2020 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government announced today return to total lockdown throughout the occupied West Bank in light to the recent sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, which was in the hundreds in recent days, as well as number of corona-related deaths.

Government spokesman Ibrahim Milhem told a press conference that the lockdown will go into effect on Friday morning and will continue for five days. It will affect movement of people, who have to stay home, as well as all businesses, which will remain closed.

He said the lockdown will help the health authorities to contain the disease which has reached unprecedented levels after ending the previous two-month lockdown that ended on May 27.
