RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 24, 2019 (WAFA) – Lawyers representing Palestinians detained by Israel have suspended appearance in Israeli military courts on Thursday in protest against obstructions they face in their work, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
It said the lawyers were banned in a new policy from bringing their cellphones with them into court.
The PPS said Israel has been escalating measures against lawyers in recent years when they visit prisoners or in court.
It said often lawyers’ visits to prisoners are restricted in time and number of prisoners they can meet.
