Jordan condemns Israel‘s new settlement expansion plans in occupied West Bank

AMMAN, Monday, December 17, 2018 (WAFA) – Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi condemned the Israeli authorities’ announcement to expropriate Palestinian land for settlement expansion and to legalize thousands of settler outposts in the occupied West Bank.

The minister slammed the new Israeli plans as a blatant violation of international law that would lead to a further escalation of tension, reiterating that settlement activities are an illegal unilateral action that perpetuate the occupation and undermine all chances for a peace settlement.

He called on the international community to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities and pressure Israel to halt settlement activities and all other illegal practices that violate the rights of the Palestinian people, which he stressed would only exacerbate tension and violence that threaten regional peace and stability.
