RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 27, 2018 (WAFA) – Following the decision by the Constitutional Court to dissolve the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), which was established as an outcome of the 1993 Oslo Accords, and to hold elections in six months, the interim period created by the 1993 Oslo process is over and the Palestinian people are on the road to statehood, said Ahmad Majdalani, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
He said in an interview on Palestine TV that with the dissolution of the PLC and the call for elections, the Palestinians have two choices: the first having a parliament for the state of Palestine, and the second, a preliminary assembly.
He said both choices are on the table for discussion in order to see which is better in constitutional and legislative terms for the transition from being under occupation to statehood.
