As Israeli forces detain Palestinians in occupied territories, settlers assault civilians

 

WEST BANK, Monday, April 13, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers detained this morning and late last night several Palestinians in raids in the occupied Palestinian territories as Jewish settlers assaulted civilians in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, according to sources.

Palestinian security sources told WAFA that Israeli forces detained this morning a 34-year-old man in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem after raiding his family home.

Forces also detained two Palestinians, 24 and 25 years old, in the town of Azzoun, east of the northern West Bank city of Qalqilya after raiding and ransacking their family homes, according to witnesses. The two had served time in Israeli prisons for resisting the occupation.

In the northern West Bank village of Zawat, east of Nablus, soldiers detained a 32-year-old former prisoner after raiding his home.

In occupied Jerusalem, Israeli forces detained late last night two youths in al-Thuri neighborhood and took them to an interrogation center. The two youths were beaten during the arrest, said local sources.

In nearby Silwan neighborhood, Israeli police fired gas grenade at a Palestinian family causing suffocation to a man and his child, who were tater taken to hospital, according to the Red Crescent, which also said it handled a girl also suffocating from the gas.

Meanwhile, Jewish settlers assaulted late last night two Palestinian men in the Israeli-occupied section of Hebron and sprayed them with pepper spray, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The two men were taken to hospital for treatment.
