RAMALLAH, Monday, February 04, 2019 (WAFA) - The Central Elections Commission (CEC) chairman, Hanna Nasir, held a meeting on Monday with representatives of political parties and factions in the West Bank and discussed with them CEC’s technical readiness to hold elections upon the issuance of presidential decree, according to a CEC press release.
Nasir said that "these meetings taking place today in the West Bank and are scheduled to take place in the Gaza Strip, are part of CEC’s responsibility to promote the participation of all factions and political parties in any future elections, and to identify parties’ positions with regards to elections."
He stressed the importance of such meetings as "necessary steps to ensure the success of the democratic process and secure a wider electoral participation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip."
Meanwhile, coordination with relevant parties is taking place for a CEC delegation headed by its chairman to visit Gaza later on to hold similar meetings with political parties‘ representatives in the Strip, said the press release.
