Four Palestinians injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza

GAZA, Friday, March 15, 2019 (WAFA) – Four Palestinians were injured on Friday overnight and morning in a series of intensive Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip.

WAFA correspondent said that two Palestinians were wounded by an Israeli rocket that slammed into a site in Gaza city this morning.

Both casualties were evacuated to al-Shifa Hospital, where medics described their condition as moderate.

He added that another Israeli rocket slammed into a house in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah early morning, injuring a Palestinian couple and causing extensive damage to the house as well as surrounding houses.

The homeowner and his wife were rushed to Abu Youyssef al-Najjar hospital, where medics described their injuries as moderate to serious.

This came during Israeli intensive airstrikes on many sites in the Gaza Strip in response to two rockets fired from the besieged coastal enclave towards Tel Aviv.

In Gaza city, Israeli fighter jets pounded a site near the evacuated settlement of Nitzarim, south of the city, with eight rockets, igniting it and causing damages to surrounding property.

They also targeted a site in al-Zeitoun neighborhood and an office for the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee to the west of Gaza city, causing extensive material damages.

In the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes targeted three sites, one to the west and two others to the east of Khan Younes city, causing extensive material damages.

In the central Gaza Strip, warplanes pounded several sites located in Deir al-Balah city as well as to the east and west of al-Maghazi and al-Nusseirat refugee camps respectively, igniting them and reducing them to rubble.

Israeli rockets also slammed into an agricultural land in the central Gaza Strip, causing a deep hole.

Israeli rockets also hit several other locations in the northern Gaza Strip towns of Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia and to the east of Jabalia, scattering shrapnel over a wide distance and causing extensive damages to the sites and to the surrounding houses.

Israel has placed a tightened blockade on Gaza since 2007 after Hamas took over power in the strip, denying about 1.8 million population their basic rights and as a result causing a decline in their standard of living, unprecedented rates of unemployment and poverty.
