RAMALLAH, August 23, 2018 (WAFA) - PLO Executive Committee Member Hanan Ashrawi said that "Jerusalem is beyond price,” stressing that "taking Jerusalem off the table only means taking peace off the table.”
This came in response to recent comments by US President Donald Trump and National Security Adviser John Bolton regarding occupied Jerusalem, the prospects for peace and the so-called American ‘peace plan‘.
Ashrawi said: Taking Jerusalem off the table disqualifies the US as a peace broker and identifies it as a warmonger.
Taking Jerusalem off the table is a further act of political and legal aggression, not only against Palestine but also against the whole global system and international law, she said.
“Taking Jerusalem off the table is rewarding lawlessness and punishing the victim.”
“It takes a great deal of ignorance and arrogance to assume for one minute that the Palestinian people and leadership will accept any compensation for Jerusalem,” said the PLO official.
“ It is the core of Palestinian existence, history and culture and the linchpin of peace.”
Israel encroaches on everything that is Palestinian and expands at will on Palestinian land, said Ashrawi. “No one has the right to steal the land of one nation and give it to its occupier as a reward for its aggression and criminal behavior."
