Settlers Steal Wooden Furniture from Palestinian Houses in Hebron

HEBRON, May 24, 2016 (WAFA) – Notorious Israeli settlers Monday evening broke into two uninhabited Palestinians houses in Hebron’s Old City and store wooden furniture.

WAFA correspondent reported that the houses belong to the Ahmad and Tahboub families, who have been denied entry into their houses in Hebron’s Old city since Israeli forces closed the area surrounding al-Shuhada and al-Shalala streets since 1994.

Israeli forces have banned local Palestinians from accessing their houses and stores after Israeli settler Baruch Goldstein broke into the Ibrahimi Mosque and opened fire at Palestinian Muslim worshippers, killing 29.

Settlers have frequently assaulted Palestinians and vandalized their property in the southern West Bank city.

Earlier this month, led by notorious Anat Cohen, settlers attacked Palestinian schoolboys en route to Qurtuba school at Tal Rumeida neighborhood in Hebron’s Old City.

Cohen is notorious for frequently harassing Palestinians and internationals in Hebron’s Old City as well as school children heading to Qurtuba middle school, adjacent to the Israeli settlement of Beit Hadassah in the center of Hebron city.

In the aftermath, the mosque, known to Jews as Tomb of the Patriarchs, was divided in two, with the larger part turned into a synagogue while heavy scrutiny was imposed on the Palestinians and areas closed completely to them, including an important market and the main street, Shuhada street.

Hebron city was divided into two H1 and H2 areas. H1 falls under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority and H2 area, which includes Hebron’s Old City and the surrounding area, falls under fall Israeli military control.

An estimated 800 notoriously aggressive Israeli settlers live under the protection of thousands of soldiers in Hebron’s city center. The city is home to over 30,000 Palestinians.
