Teen killed in Gaza with Israeli bullet during protest laid to rest

MAGHAZI, January 112, 2018 (WAFA) - Thousands gathered in the center of the Gaza Strip on Friday, to lay to rest the body of 16-year-old Ameer Abu Musaed, who was shot dead by Israeli forces east of al-Bureij refugee camp.

The funeral procession took off from Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in the nearby town of Deir al-Balah, all the way to his hometown in Al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The teen’s family were given a chance to say their goodbyes before the body was taken for burial.

The young man was killed after he was shot in the chest by Israeli soldiers stationed at military towers located east of al-Bureij camp, during clashes between youths and Israeli forces.

Abu Musaed is the first Gaza youth to be killed in 2018, during demonstrations in protest of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Clashes broke out between the mourners and Israeli soldiers stationed in military towers along the eastern border of the Gaza Strip, where soldiers fired live bullets and tear gas canisters at the youth who were approaching the border.

At least one young man was injured and dozens were suffocated due to tear gas inhalation.
