Palestinian boy fatally shot, others injured in Jenin camp clashes

JENIN, January 29, 2017 (WAFA) – A Palestinian boy was fatally shot and five other youths were shot and injured on Sunday during violent clashes that erupted with Israeli forces in Jenin’s refugee camp, according to local and medical sources.

Forces stormed the camp in the predawn hours, amid heavy firing of live and rubber-coated steel bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters toward Palestinian residents’ homes, leading to clashes among them.

Sources said 16-year-old Mohammad Abu Khalifa was shot dead with a live bullet and was left on the ground for hours before paramedics were able to evacuate his body. The bullet entered the boy’s lower back and went through his body, emerging from his abdomen.

Five other youths were shot and injured during the clashes, including one seriously.

A one-day general strike was announced by Fatah faction in mourning of Abu Khalifa.
